Heats and cools from one cabinet
Dacula Heat Pump Services
The system that cools the house all summer and heats it all winter, repaired, replaced or newly installed.
Two Jobs, One Outdoor Unit
Here is the short version of how it works. July: refrigerant hauls warmth from your living room to the yard. January: a reversing valve flips the route, and that same cabinet in the yard scavenges warmth from chilly outdoor air and carries it inside. Across most Georgia winters that arrangement works well. A few of its habits alarm owners for no reason. On a raw, damp morning the outdoor coil grows a layer of frost, so the unit pauses to defrost: the fan goes still, a cloud of vapor can drift off the cabinet and the hum takes on a different note for a little while. Healthy behavior. Trouble looks different: a coil locked in a solid block of ice, lukewarm air at the registers hour after hour in heating mode, or auxiliary heat that seems never to rest. Those backup strips in the air handler exist for cold snaps and defrost periods, not daily duty, and when they run constantly the electric bill climbs and something deserves a look. Some houses pair the heat pump with a gas furnace, a dual-fuel arrangement where the furnace takes over below a chosen outdoor temperature. The changeover settings decide whether that pairing behaves as designed. Repairs, replacements and new heat pump installs all get the same sizing care and testing as any other system here.
Heat Pump Work We Handle
Everything from a defrost board that misbehaves to a complete changeout.
Defrost problems
Defrost controls, sensors and timers checked when ice builds up and stays.
Reversing valves
A valve stuck in one mode leaves the system cooling when it should heat, or the reverse.
Auxiliary heat
Heat strips, sequencers and thermostat staging tested when backup heat runs too often or not at all.
Dual-fuel controls
Changeover settings between the heat pump and the gas furnace checked and adjusted.
Electrical and refrigerant faults
Capacitors, contactors, fan motors and refrigerant leaks, just as on an air conditioner.
Replacement and installation
Replacement heat pumps chosen for the home and its ductwork, paired with a matched air handler and proven in both modes.
How a Heat Pump Call Goes
Describe the behavior
Ice, cool air in heating mode, odd noises or high power bills. Knowing whether it happens in heating, cooling or both narrows things down.
Test both modes
The technician runs heating, then cooling, watching defrost, auxiliary heat and refrigerant readings. The finding and a price follow.
Fix and confirm
Once the work is done, both modes run again to confirm the unit switches over and performs as it should.
Straight Talk on Heat Pumps
Normal versus not
You will hear plainly whether that steam and noise is a healthy defrost or a real problem.
Both seasons covered
Whatever the season, heating and cooling performance both get checked on every heat pump call.
Clear replacement advice
If replacement makes sense, sizing and options are explained before any price is set.
- Both modes run
- Defrost watched
- Dual-fuel controls
- Price stated first
Frost, Steam or Lukewarm Air?
Ice that will not clear, backup heat running nonstop or cool air when you want warm. Call and describe it, and a technician will sort out normal from broken.
